The best Food & Drink apps for the iPhone and iPad are here.
There?s been a fair amount of renovation going on in the App Store lately, and it looks like their next big project will be the kitchen. In a fitting change for a company that is always cooking something up, Apple will be adding a ?Food & Drink? category to the App Store. The new category is meant to bring together the existing Cooking category and some of the food-centric apps that have been tucked away in Lifestyle or Travel.
Food lovers can now find all of their goodies in one place.
We?ve collected some of the highlights of the App Store addition so you can start your venture into becoming a foodie.
Foodspotting (Free)
Most of the time when people talk about over-sharing on social media, they?ll joke about people posting pictures of food. Well the joke is them thanks to Foodspotting, an app dedicated to sharing snapshots and details about meals. This app is all about delicious dishes, whether it?s sharing, rating, or finding them. With a built-in social network and visual accompaniments to postings that look better than any menu picture, Foodspotting is a great guide to keep track of your favorite foods and find new suggestions of succulent servings from friends and experts.
Mixologist Drink Recipes ($1)
?A night out on the town is fun every now and then, but barhopping can get expensive. Stay in for the night, have some friends over, and impress them with your amateur bar tending abilities with the help of Mixologist Drink Recipes. If you have a specific drink in mind, simply search through the drink categories for your potent potable. Got a cabinet full of liquor and not sure what to do with it? Plug in what?s on hand into Mixologist and it?ll spit out every cocktail creation you can make. It?ll even point you to the nearest liquor store if you?re missing ingredients.

Lunchbox (Free)
There are tons of ways to find reviews of restaurants, but when you?re hungry you don?t want to have to scour too much. This is where Lunchbox comes in. Taking tips and suggestions from other app users and mixing in reviews that have been shared on Foursquare and Yelp, Lunchbox is a comprehensive food critic that fits in your back pocket. Type in whatever your current craving may be and watch as Lunchbox populates a list of dining options that are sure to satisfy. It even offers up contact information and directions for your destination to assure you?ll have a seat waiting for you.

Untappd (Free)
Drinking is often a social activity, so why shouldn?t it have its own social network? Untappd gives booze hounds and beer snobs a chance to track their drink selections for the night, with a geolocation function so friends can come join the pub crawl. If a new pale ale hits the market or a drink that?s on-tap at a local bar starts trending, Untappd will keep a tab on it and tell you where to get it. Check in with reviews and toast your friends for their intoxicating decision making.

Epicurious Recipes & Shopping List (Free)
Few things are as rewarding as successfully creating an appetizing meal from scratch. Even the most inexperienced of cooks can look like a gourmet chef for a five-star restaurant with the help of Epicurious Recipes & Shopping List. This app puts over 30,000 recipes right at your finger tips, offering step-by-step instructions to keep your cooking consistent from meal preparation to the first bite. Once you?ve picked a recipe, Epicurious will generate a shopping list to make sure you get all the proper ingredients. You?ll never be missing that final dash of seasoning or forget how long to set the oven again.
