Make Your Dog Training Easier With These Tips

Break complex behaviors or tricks down into simple steps. One example might be to teach him to fetch your daily newspaper. The first thing that your dog needs to learn is how to hold something correctly. Next, he must be able to identify an object by its name. After mastering this, he should be taught how to pick something up. Finally, show him that you want the object brought to you. When you break down the actions like this, it will be easier to communicate what you want to your dog.

To house train your pup, get him on a set feeding and potty schedule every day. This will give you the opportunity to understand when your dog needs to go to the bathroom. Sticking to a schedule will teach your dog how to control himself until his next scheduled potty break.

Realize that sometimes you will need to contact a professional. It may be necessary to seek professional assistance if your dog training is not proceeding as you expected it to. Work with a professional trainer to establish a better plan.

If you cannot be patient, don?t start a training session. Your patience is vital to helping the dog understand and accomplish his training goals, work through distractions or other behavioral issues and learn self-discipline.

Always give your dog the tools for success. If you are training it to stop chewing things it shouldn?t be chewing on, give it things that it can chew on. Make sure that your dog can?t get into trouble by chewing on the wrong item. Keep all items which can fit in your dogs mouth, like hair accessories or office supplies, away from your dog?s reach.

When training your dog, always remember to have fun. Playful interaction strengthens the bond between you, and will have your dog striving even harder to please you during training. While training is fun in itself, take some time to just play for enjoyment each day.

Your dog needs to understand how to go to a vet exam. Move your hands across his body as a vet would, and give him plenty of praise when he deals with it well. Get him accustomed to being poked at, having his paws examined and teeth inspected in a friendly manner. Your friends may be able to help you out, too.

Potty pads should not be used by anyone who is attempting to potty-train their dog. When they leak, they tend to mark the area with enzymes that tell your dog the area used is okay to go potty. Housebreaking pads encourage dogs that indoor bathroom use is okay; similar objects the shape and size of the pads may be used by a mistaken puppy. For the sake of consistency, train your dog to always use the bathroom outside.

Now that the people who are interested in training their new pet dog have, hopefully, learned some new tricks, they can proceed to pass them along to their pets. Once a dog is on its way to learning, the owner will begin to appreciate the dedication that he or she has shown for doing the right thing for man?s best friend.
